US-Japan Infrastructure Advisors exists to bring the world's most proven high-speed rail systems into the American infrastructure conversation — not as aspirational concepts, but as operational realities with six decades of demonstrated performance.

Our mission is to serve as the informed, credible bridge between JR Central's technological excellence and the policymakers, planners, and investors who will determine America's transportation future. We work to ensure that proven Japanese expertise informs every major corridor decision in the United States.

Our Role

U.S. Representative for JR Central Technologies

USJIA serves as the authorized U.S. advisory representative for the transportation technologies of Central Japan Railway Company (JR Central). JR Central is one of the world's most respected rail operators, responsible for the Tokaido Shinkansen — the highest-volume high-speed rail line in the world — and the development of Superconducting Maglev (SCMAGLEV) technology.

In this capacity, USJIA engages with the full range of stakeholders who shape U.S. transportation policy and investment: federal agencies including the Department of Transportation and the Federal Railroad Administration, congressional transportation committees, state departments of transportation, metropolitan planning organizations, and private infrastructure investors.

USJIA advances the JRC technologies — Shinkansen and SCMAGLEV — as credible, proven, and appropriate solutions for America's intercity transportation challenges.

Why Japanese High-Speed Rail Experience Matters in America

Operational Maturity

Japan launched the Shinkansen in 1964. Over 60 years, it has carried more than 10 billion passengers without a single passenger fatality attributable to train operations.

Scale and Frequency

The Tokaido Shinkansen operates 158 million passengers per year at peak frequencies of one train every four minutes, with average delays under one minute. This level of performance has never been matched.

Relevant Corridor Parallels

Japan's most productive high-speed rail corridor connects Tokyo and Osaka — two dense metropolitan regions separated by 272 miles. The parallels to U.S. corridors are clear and compelling.

Next-Generation Technology

Japan did not stop at the Shinkansen. The SCMAGLEV represents the next frontier of passenger transportation: a tested, operating technology capable of speeds above 374 mph.
